Hello.

I'm a reasonable way through constructing a Perl books site.

        http://ouroboros.anu.edu.au/books/

Lists of books, authors, book details, author details, publisher details
etc.

At present the data used was ripped from Amazon, and as such contains
various errors. Also the release date bit needs a bit of work since it
needs to cope with dates that are just years and months rather than down
to the day.

But, generally, the basic structure is there.

Editing, addition and deletion facilities are available at:
        http://ouroboros.anu.edu.au/books/auth/
(I'm currently fiddling with book addition, so don't try that beyond
looking at it)

Feel free to play with them: I have got a backup of the database =) The
idea is that the site should be fully editable from a web interface.
Login will be using the dev.perl.org system.

First milestone will be full book, author and publisher management by
admin (us, I imagine), including the addition of adding URLs to reviews.

Second milestone will be the ability for users to add their own reviews.

It's at the second milestone that I'd like to see the site go public.

Naturally, more fields and tables will be added to the DB. At present I
just have the basic fields in there. Some fields will be fairly quick to
add (e.g. url).

Comments anyone?

Also: If anyone has any bright ideas on where I can host a repository
for the code, it would be appreciated. It's currently in my personal
CVS. Sourceforge? Or is there something better out there?

cheers,
